What I Learned in 2009

Mt. Wari, 4,850m, Tibet

I don't ever remember an instance when my gut feeling was wrong. It has always been right, but I haven't always trusted it. What I learned in 2009, in a BIG way, is to follow my intuition - tune into it as much as possible and make choices that are in line with what I know is right for me.

I learned of my ability to connect with my spiritual self. The spiritual, and sometimes scary, journey started when I left my job. I was miserable, so I blindly left not knowing what would come next but trusting that it would work itself out. It did. I went through intensive self-development work with Personal Best. Again, diving in blindly and trusting that the process would work. It did.

Finally, I fulfilled one of my life-long dreams and travelled to the most precious places on Earth - Tibet. Somewhere in the Himalayas at about 4,850m I let go of a lot of shit and made amends... with myself. I hit a point of peacefulness that I have NEVER felt in my life. As my friend Tia said, "I'm pretty sure this is how you feel right before you die." She was referring to her own experience of something completely different, but those words describe so perfectly how I felt at the top of that mountain.

Towards the end of 2009, I started to learn about my own energy and started to dive into the awareness of it. A big goal for me in 2010 will be learning how to tap into this energy. Aside from that, I've set some really big goals for 2010. I have spent too many years allowing myself to play small. This year, I say, Fuck it! I'm going BIG!

Some of my health/fitness goals for 2010:
  1. Randy as rx’d, under 5 minutes
  2. Grace as rx’d, under 5 minutes
  3. Deadlift, 275#
  4. Split Jerk 150#
  5. Back Squat 200#
  6. Body Fat, 12%
  7. Nutrition 94% (33/35 meals)
  8. CrossFit certifications in 2010: Level 1, Nutrition, CFK.

Kettlebell

I say this often and each time I say it, I MEAN it with all of my heart! Today at CrossFit, I almost died! This had to be one of the toughest workouts in awhile. Very decieving! Forced me to tap into energy that I wasn't even aware of. Afterwards I came home and CRASHED, and crashed hard! It's just about 4pm now and I'm almost feeling recovered enough to function.
